BAB 4

ACTIVE VOICE AND PASSIVE VOICE

ACTIVE VOICE adalah suatu kalimat yang pokok kalimat (Subject) melakukan pekerjaan dan berawalan “ME dan BER”.

PASSIVE VOICE adalah suatu kalimat yang pokok kalimat (Subject) dikenai pekerjaan suatu kalimat yang berawalan “DI dan TER”.

1)      SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

RUMUS :

SUBJECT + TO BE (AM, IS, ARE) + VERB III +BY + COMPLEMENT

            Contoh :

§  Active Voice :

I read the news paper today.

§  Pasive Voice :

(+) The news paper is read by me today.

(-) The news paper is not read by me today.

(?) Is the news paper read by me today?

2)      SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE

RUMUS :

SUBJECT + SHALL/WILL + BE + VERB III +BY + COMPLEMENT

            Contoh :

§  Active Voice :

Elsy will invite Arry next week.

§  Pasive Voice :

(+) Arry will be invited by Elsy next week.

(-) Arry will not be invited by Elsy next week.

(?) Will arry be invited by Elsy next week?

3)      PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

RUMUS :

SUBJECT + HAS/HAVE + BEEN + VERB III +BY + COMPLEMENT

            Contoh :

§  Active Voice :

I have read the news paper just now.

§  Pasive Voice :

(+) The news paper has been read by me just now.

(-) The news paper has not been read by me just now.

(?) Has the news paper been read by me just now?

4)      PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

RUMUS :

SUBJECT + TO BE (WAS, WERE) + BEING + VERB III +BY + COMPLEMENT

            Contoh :

§  Active Voice :

He was opening the doors yesterday.

§  Pasive Voice :

(+) the doors were being opened by him yesterday.

(-) The doors were not opened by him yesterday.

(?) Were the doors being opened by him yesterday?

5)      PAST FUTURE TENSE

RUMUS :

SUBJECT + SHOULD/WOULD + BE + VERB III +BY + COMPLEMENT

            Contoh :

§  Active Voice :

He would borrow the Algebra last month.

§  Pasive Voice :

(+) Algebra would be borrowed by him last month.

(-) Algebra would not be borrowed by him last month.

(?) Would Algebra not be borrowed by him last month?
